Currently, on Wednesdays we celebrate Mass at 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Beginning in January, the 7:00 a.m. Mass will move to 6:00 p.m., while the 8:30 a.m. Mass will remain unchanged. We hope this evening Mass will provide an opportunity for those who are unable to attend Mass in the morning because of work, school, or other responsibilities.

In addition, Wednesday Confessions will move from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., immediately before the new evening Mass. We hope this change will make the Sacrament of Reconciliation more accessible to those who find evening hours more convenient.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and helping us grow as a parish community. We pray that these changes will help more people encounter Christ through the Eucharist and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

“In a time of deep political division, the temptation is to be discouraged and to not participate in the election process. But discouragement is not a Christian virtue. For citizens in a representative democracy such as our own, participation in public life—including voting—is both a right and a responsibility.

“In honoring this civic duty, it is important to ensure that citizens not face unnecessary delays or complications in registering or exercising their right to vote. Together, we can contribute to the common good of our nation as faithful citizens by supporting free and fair elections.

“I would ask all Catholics to put their faith before politics. The Church’s contribution to the public life of a nation is not a political or partisan program; rather, it reflects our commitment to the dignity of every person, who is created in the image and likeness of God. 

“One of the great dangers of our moment is the belief that any criticism of ‘our party’ somehow strengthens our opponents. A well-formed conscience does not operate on those terms. Therefore, I encourage all to judge candidates and elected officials by their actions, not merely their promises, and how those actions promote the common good. We must reject rhetoric that appeals to fear, resentment, or division, and listen instead, to the Gospel call to love God and all our neighbors.
 
“May Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, bless our nation as we turn once more to elections, that we might respect the dignity of each person and promote the common good of all.”

Our faith calls us to offer compassion, understanding, and hope to one another. Bishop John Dolan has made mental health an important focus in the Diocese of Phoenix and is helping break the stigma surrounding mental health by reminding us that no one should have to face struggles alone.

Sacred Heart Parish has started the process of developing our own Mental and Wellness Health Ministry to support the mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of our parish community. Our priests support this effort and see the importance of caring for us – mind, body and spirit.

As we start this ministry, we hope to better understand the needs and interest of our parish community. A survey will be available next week in both paper and electronic formats. We encourage you to participate and help us build a parish community where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and reminded of God’s love.

This year, our parish is beginning a new tradition to honor, in a special way, all parishioners who have passed away since last November. We will offer a Special Mass of Remembrance on Monday, November 2 at 5:30pm

We will also have a Mass in Spanish at 7:00pm

Each year, we remember our deceased loved ones in a special way during the month of November. You are invited to bring framed photos (8.5 x11 or smaller) of your deceased loved ones to place on our All-Souls Remembrance Altar, to be located in the Gathering Place.

Please bring your photos starting Friday, October 30. The photos will be displayed until Friday, November 20. (Please do not bring irreplaceable or treasured originals, 
a framed copy of your favorite photo is perfect.)

In addition, you are invited to write the names of your deceased friends and family in our Book of Remembrance, which will be available throughout the month of November.

Honor a loved one or celebrate a special occasion by sponsoring altar flowers. You can reserve a specific Sunday and choose to sponsor one or two flower vases. Your dedication will be acknowledged in the bulletin and Flocknotes.
